The minimum wage in the UK, if you’re aged 21 and over is £6.08

That is £2 less than what the person with the lowest salary in Sweden earns per hour.

But don’t think it stops there; if you’re an apprentice, you earn £2.60 an hour during your first year. 

That’s £416 a month if you work full time. My rent is £400, nothing included. 

Literally every apprentice would have to get at least LHA to survive, but they’re obviously being ‘leeches on the system’, despite working full time. 

People disgust me.

  2. namemefish said: About the same wage as here. But £2.60/hour as a first-year stagaire? That is bullshit because we don’t do that here. Although admittedly I can live on that with $65/week to spare for food and others.
  3. neetainari said: I’m not actually sure what the wage levels are in Finland, but suggestions to set a fixed minimum wage of 10€/h has been met with resistance, on the basis that “people should be responsible and make do with what they get.” Disgusting.
  4. robert-brydie said: Mind as well that they’d only get the shared room rate for it being a private tenancy. Add to this the fact that since they are in employment and receiving a wage they would not be entitled to the full amount as it’d be “means tested”.
