Lost my railcard without noticing it until I was on the train. This meant that I had to buy an additional ticket on the train, for £9. If I don’t get this job, I am going to cry.
Attended a job interview that seemed to go really well. I stopped being positive about eventual jobs a long time ago, but I actually do think I might actually get this job. In other words, the powerpoint presentation seemed to work.
Asked an annoying guy with a tribal tattoo in the style of a Tlingit painting if Lingít gé x’eeya.áxch? All this in the international Church of Hipsters, also known as Starbucks. His reply was a blank stare.
Regretted not bringing my camera with me to Edinburgh, the weather was beautiful and it’d been nice to take some photos.
My name is Johan (Jåhha / Eòghan) and I am a linguist, teacher and indigenous rights activist with a Swedish South Saami and a Scottish Gaelic background.
As someone with a mixed heritage - being from both an indigenous culture and a minority culture I find issues of identity representation to be incredibly fascinating and my wish is to start a PhD this September, focusing on the politics of indigenous representation and what happens when minority writers and indigenous writers challenge the mainstream idea of what these writers presumably can write about.
As you can see, I have added a donate button to my site - I know, I know - if you like the things I post about, feel free to show your support as this will help me pay for my Internet in the future.
As far as geekery goes, I guess I have to admit that I am a Harry Potter fan. Other cool things worth knowing about me would be that I've been branded as a terrorist by the previous Botswanan government for my support of the Gwi and Gana Bushmen's right to return to their homelands in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. I've also published academic things on Harry Potter as well as indigenous rights and I currently hold four degrees and have lived in Germany, Sweden, the UK, Switzerland, Austria and France over the last seven years.
